Timing silent prayer
Jim Finley includes a time of ‘sitting’ in his podcasts Turning to the Mystics, and I have adapted these to create a series of mp3 files that help me avoid clock-watching. They begin with Psalm 46.10: “Be still and know that I am God”, and end with a bell, the Lord’s Prayer and an invocation of Mary and two mystics alongside whom we pray. So the wrapper adds two minutes. Finley explains the time of sitting further in this episode turning to Thomas Merton.
